A Note From Dr. Waddell
It has been my privilege for over 40 years to serve you and your family as your dentist. For the 18 months I have been teaching part-time at the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry. I have been offered, and have accepted, a full-time position as assistant professor of General Dentistry at the college. I am passing the baton to an excellent dentist and a Memphis native, Dr. Steven Oxner. His first day will be Monday, March 2, 2026.
While the office’s name will be changed to Healthy Smiles, the staff that you know and love will still be there to greet you and continue your care. Dr. Oxner will be in network with Delta Dental and Cigna insurance plans. He is eager to meet each of you personally. Please help me welcome Dr. Oxner.

State-of-the-Art Dental Services for a Smile You’ll be Proud to Show Off
During your first visit, we take the time to get to know you and understand your goals. You may not realize all of the options available to improve your smile. Or perhaps you are not aware of potential problems that call for preventive care. By listening to you and gathering high-quality, digital images of your smile, Dr. Waddell can recommend a customized treatment plan for you. The ultimate decision concerning your care is yours.
We use innovative technology and continue our education to provide the finest comprehensive dental services. Your comfort and helping you meet your dental needs is our priority!
What should I expect during my first dental visit?
At your initial appointment, we dedicate ample time to familiarize ourselves with you and your objectives. You may not be aware of all the possibilities that can enhance your smile or the preventive measures needed to address potential issues. By attentively listening to your concerns and capturing high-quality digital images of your smile, Dr. Waddell can propose a tailored treatment plan designed specifically for you. Ultimately, the decision regarding your care is entirely up to you.
How often should I visit the dentist for check-ups?
It is generally recommended to visit the dentist for a routine check-up and cleaning every six months. However, this may vary depending on your individual oral health needs. Dr. Waddell will advise you on the appropriate frequency based on factors such as your oral health history, risk of dental issues, and any ongoing treatments.
How does Healthy Smiles prioritize patient comfort and convenience?
What are some of the benefits of the latest dental technology used at the clinic?
Our use of the latest dental technology, such as digital x-rays and 3D imaging, allows us to create high-quality images within seconds, diagnose previously undetected problems, and place dental implants with more precision. In addition, we also use CEREC technology to eliminate the need for impressions and temporary crowns in most cases, saving you time and repeat visits whenever possible.
